Importing Contacts is a new feature that is in beta. If you are interested in using this feature please contact support@dengro.com who can discuss enabling this for you.
1. Start Your Import
Go to Contacts → Imports.
You can open the import modal by selecting Upload Contacts:
In the centre of the page (first-time upload)
Or from the top right corner (if you’ve uploaded before)
2. Before You Upload Your CSV ⚠️
Important guidelines:
✔ Only upload contacts you may want to convert into DenGro leads
✔ Do not upload referrals, multi-practice leads, or group-level leads
✔ Maximum 1000 rows per upload
✔ Maximum of 3 imports per user in a 24 hour period
✔ Required fields: FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME, TELEPHONE/MOBILE or EMAIL
✔ Recommended fields: TREATMENT, MARKETING CONSENT
✔ If treatment names match DenGro's -approved treatment slugs it will ensure they can easily be identified when converting to a lead.
You can also download a CSV template with the compulsory fields ready for you to fill in.
3. Upload Your File
Click Upload File and select your .csv file.
⚠️ Only .csv files will upload.
Once uploaded, select Next.
4. Map Your Fields 🔁
DenGro will automatically map recognised fields.
For any unmapped fields, use the dropdowns to match each CSV column to the correct DenGro field. You do not have to match every field on the CSV to a DenGro field but unmapped fields will not be imported.
When all the relevant fields are mapped, tick the confirmation box and click Next.
Here is a list of all the available fields you can map:

5. CSV Validation
DenGro will check your file for formatting issues.
If no issues are found → click Next
If issues are found → DenGro provides a downloadable CSV where each failed row includes an error reason/s
Common issues include:
Missing required fields for example a first name
Incorrect formatting (for phone numbers or email addresses)
You can now either:
Fix and re-upload the updated CSV (the button will say Re-Upload File)
Ignore validation issues and continue
⚠️ Any rows with validation issues WILL NOT be imported.
6. Preview Your Import 👀
You’ll see a preview of the first 5 contacts and how they will appear.
This step helps ensure fields haven't been mismatched (e.g., have you accidentally mapped the contact's first name to the treatment field).
Imported contacts will not:
Appear in the Today Page
Trigger any automated nurturing
Appear in reports
If everything looks correct, click Import and this will upload those contacts into DenGro.
7. Converting Imports to Leads
Once imported, you can convert a contact to a lead:
From the Imports list using the Convert button
Or from the Import Contact page via Convert (top left)
You can also delete any imported contact from the list via the import contact page using the button next to Convert.

How to convert:
Check the Treatment field:
If your CSV included a treatment field and DenGro recognises it, it will be automatically filled in.
If not, use the dropdown to search and select the correct treatment.
Select the Journey:
If only one journey is linked to the treatment, it will auto-select.
If multiple journeys exist, choose the correct one from the dropdown.
3. Choose any automations you want this lead to receive. These can be toggled OFF if you do not want these to be sent to the lead.
4. Set the Journey Status to whatever stage you’d like the lead to start in ie 'Consultation Booked'.
5. Tick the confirmation checkbox to confirm you’re happy with the details.
6. Click Confirm to complete the conversion.
8. After Conversion
The contact will disappear from the main Imports list (as it is now a lead).
To show previously converted contacts, toggle Show Converted Contacts — converted items display a green tick.
