How to get started

You’ll need to make sure that your practice licence is registered on our PRO plan to be able to edit the messages.

To view and edit the SMS sent to leads, go to the Settings Cog at the top right of your Today page and select Nurturing Automations from the menu.

You can edit any of the messages – emails or SMS – in a Custom Sequence that you’ve already created.

If you haven’t created a Custom Sequence yet, click on the Create a New Message Sequence button at the top of the page and follow the prompts to copy an existing sequence to create a new Custom one.

Then, click to View the sequence.

Use the + buttons to the left of each journey status point to view the messages sent at each status point. You can View the message by clicking on the button to the right of it.

To edit the message click on the ellipses menu (the 3 horizontal dots) to the right of the message and select Edit.

Best practice for creating effective SMS?

Firstly, keep it short and to the point – there’s a limit of 160 characters on each SMS so make sure your message is clear and punchy. If you want to add a URL to direct the reader to a page on your site, then consider using a URL shortener like bitly to keep under the 160 character limit.

Secondly, make it personal – use the available merge tags to pull in the lead’s name, treatment interest, and even the appointment details.

Thirdly, give a clear call to action – the SMS are sent from a No Reply phone number, so the lead can’t text you back. Therefore, give them clear instructions on how to contact you directly – ie. by calling the practice on a certain number.
